Here you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about our classes. If you have other related questions that are not listed here, please contact us and we will be happy to help you!

1. What Should I Wear For A Pole Dance Class?

As it is a fitness class, we want you to feel comfortable during our classes, so we recommend wearing clothing that you can move freely and comfortably in.leggings/ Shorts and a comfortable T-shirt or tank top are good. Shoes are not necessary as we work barefoot.

2. I have always wanted to try Pole Dancing! Where do I start?

We recommend all first-timers to begin with our ‘Introduction to Pole Dance’. This is designed to teach you all of the basic technique, terminology and skills that will help you to progress above and beyond. We recommend 4-6 weeks as a minimum time-frame to allow yourself to build strength, get to grips with the pole, as well as get to know our staff and instructors so that you can make an informed decision and allow yourself sufficient time to see if pole dancing is for you or not.

3. What is the difference between pole dance and pole fitness?

There is no difference! We specialize in Pole Dance/Pole Fitness instruction; we want you to look and feel amazing! This means that our classes focus on the dance side of pole as well as the fitness side: we include choreography in our terms, as well as awesome pole tricks and exercises. You will learn how to dance and move around the pole, as well as learning floorwork and making smooth transitions between your pole tricks. You will feel weightless as you flow around the pole and build confidence with your body movement, that will ultimately help you to become stronger, more toned and more flexible, whilst increasing cardiovascular fitness.

4. Do I need upper body strength or do I need to be ‘fit’ in order to take classes?

There are no per-requisite strength, flexibility or skill levels required in order to take our pole dance/hoop classes. Let us help you to build upon whatever strength/flexibility you already have and achieve your goals! For anyone at any fitness level, we always recommend that you consult your physician before starting a new fitness program.

5. Do I need to have a dance/fitness background to take these classes?

None at all most of our Instructors at Lioness Aerial Fitness started with a dance or fitness background and they are now amazing.

6. How do I sign up?

Via our online booking system  - https://goteamup.com/p/1445964-lioness-aerial-fitness/

7. I am an ex-gymnast/ballerina/circus dancer, do I still need to take the ‘Introduction to Pole Dance’ class?

We recommend that you take our ‘Introduction to Pole Dance’ course so that you can learn the fundamental techniques that are specific and unique to the art of pole dance. As an alternative, we can arrange a one to one lesson to assess your skill level.

8. I have taken pole dance/hoop classes before, do I still need to take the ‘Introduction course?

No, ‘Introduction to Pole Dance/hoop’ is only necessary if you have never taken pole dance/hoop classes before, or if it has been a very long time since you last practiced.

9. Is there an age limit for participants?

Everyone is welcome to join Lioness Aerial Fitness. There is no maximum age limit for potential pole/hoop students.

10. I am under 18 years old, but I really want to do these pole dancing classes!

No problem! If you are under 18, you must get your parent/guardian to come into the studio with you to sign a waiver. If they are unable to come into the studio, then please email or call us so that we can contact them to verify their consent for you to join these classes and we can forward the waiver.

11. Is there anything I should avoid doing before class?

We advise avoiding the use of body lotions, oils, fake tans or oil-based moisturizers within 24 hours of a pole dance class as this will prevent your skin from properly adhering to the pole. Water-based moisturizers are fine.

12. I have a medical/physical condition or injury that I am worried will become aggravated by taking pole dancing classes, what should I do?

Please contact us and we can discuss this in strictest confidence! We also recommend that you speak with your doctor/physician to check that this type of exercise is suitable for you and to get a doctor’s note if necessary.

13. I’m not ready for the sexy side of pole dance…

That’s totally fine. You don’t have to wear stiletto heels or sparkly hot pants in our classes. However, we foster a supportive and empowering environment at the studio, all styles are welcome. Choreography is a part of all of our pole dance classes and we guarantee that you will love it and reap the benefits of learning a structured routine!

14. I’m a guy, I want to take pole dance classes. Can I join?

Great, men are most welcome to join our classes! Please contact us first

15. Where can I buy a pole for my home?

We are authorized X-Pole resellers, you can buy your very own dance pole directly from us. Please check the online store or ask in studio! We recommend the 45mm Chrome XPERT X-Pole; this is perfect for home use as it is easy to assemble, doesn’t require drilling or screws into the floor/ceiling, has both static and spinny functions, and has a lovely chrome finish in the comfortable 45mm diameter. Contact us to order your pole today!

16. Are the instructors at Lioness Aerial Fitness qualified and insured to teach pole dance and Aerial Hoop?

Yes. We have completed the relevant professional training courses in order to teach pole dance for fitness and Aerial Hoop safely and effectively, such as Xpert Pole/hoop Fitness and Vertical Dance; you can rest assured that you are in good hands! with the relevant insurance. You can see our certifications on display at the studio.

17. I joined an ‘Introduction to Pole Dance’ course and I decided that pole dance isn’t for me. Can I get my money back?

We are a very busy dance studio with long waiting lists for first-time beginners wanting to join our classes. Unfortunately we cannot refund you if you join one of our courses and then decide you don’t want to continue, as we are then left with an empty space that we cannot fill. This would also be unfair to the eager people on our waiting list. You agree to these terms and conditions upon signing up to our classes.
